We’ve been busy! It’s been non-stop community meetings, parades, door knocking and much more! See what Team Dang has been up to in Volume II of our “Dang Digest” newsletter. Make sure to forward this to your friends!

Celebrating Welcoming Week in Silver Spring

Hoan stopped by a community potluck hosted by the Montgomery Coalition for Adult English Literacy (MCAEL) to kick-off Welcoming Week, which brought together immigrants, refugees, and native-born residents to discuss how the community benefits from welcoming everyone. The event was joined by staff of the Latino Economic Development Center, and Hoan’s fellow graduates of IMPACT Silver Spring’s leadership & empowerment training.

Promoting Tolerance for All

After the horrific acts in Charlottesville, VA, Hoan joined fellow County Council At-Large candidates Brandy Brooks, Danielle Metiv, and Chris Wilhelm, along with State Delegate candidate Lorig Charkoudian, to denounce white supremacy and all hate crimes. “Hate crimes such as those in Charlottesville threaten the most important fiber of the fabric of America: The diversity of the people who live here,” said Dang.  See the full coverage by Montgomery County Media here.

Attending Bilingual Church Services

Earlier this month, Hoan attended a bilingual service in English and Vietnamese at the First Alliance Church in Colesville. During the service, Pastors Mike Mercurio and Alan Loc Vo highlighted the importance of alliances across diverse communities and showing love for one another.

Knocking on Doors in Kensington

Hoan and his volunteers pounded the pavement on Labor Day Weekend to talk to voters in Kensington. Despite the hot day, they managed to cover over 300 doors!  Be on the lookout for Team Dang in your neighborhood soon.

Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade

Hoan marched with Team Dang in the Gaithersburg Labor Day Parade after hitting the doors. Hoan had a blast greeting residents along the parade route AND appeared on Fox 5 DC television channel to talk about why getting out to community events is the best way to meet voters. Special thanks to our youngest members of Team Dang for passing out all the candy and stickers!
